Keyword Scrubber — User Guide
The Keyword Scrubber takes messy keyword lists and cleans them up in seconds. It can remove duplicates, empty lines, metadata, odd characters, and more — leaving you with a tidy list ready for use.
Getting started
- Paste or load your keywords into the input box. You can paste text directly or upload a file if you prefer.
- Choose a preset:
- Quick — removes duplicates and blanks, trims, collapses spaces, strips metadata after a tab, drops the first line.
- Deep — runs all 17 cleaning options.
- SEO — balanced clean that keeps numbers but tidies punctuation and strips metadata.
- Custom — select your own combination of cleaning options.
- Tick any options you want to apply. Each one has a ? button for an explanation.
- Click Process. The page will scroll to the results automatically.
The cleaning options
- 1 Remove duplicates — only keeps the first version of each line.
- 2 Remove empty lines — deletes blanks.
- 3 Trim whitespace — removes spaces at the start and end.
- 4 Collapse multiple spaces — turns double or triple spaces into one.
- 5 Remove numbers — strips digits.
- 6 Remove single character lines — clears one-letter entries.
- 7 Strip leading/trailing punctuation — chops off punctuation marks at the ends.
- 8 Remove quotes — deletes "double" and 'single' quotes.
- 9 Remove if starts with — removes lines starting with chosen characters.
- 10 Remove if ends with — removes lines ending with chosen characters.
- 11 Filter non-ASCII — removes emojis and odd symbols.
- 12 Convert tabs to spaces — replaces tabs with spaces.
- 13 Remove internal line breaks — fixes broken lines from bad copy-pasting.
- 14 Remove invisible characters — deletes zero-width and hidden marks.
- 15 Limit excessive punctuation — changes “cheap!!!” to “cheap!”.
- 16 Strip meta after tab — only keeps the text before the first tab.
- 17 Drop first line — removes headers.
Results and workflow
After processing, you’ll see your cleaned list and a set of statistics showing lines, characters, and how many entries were removed.
- Copy — the fastest way to continue working. One click copies the whole list to your clipboard so you can paste it straight into another input box or document without saving and reloading.
- Save — downloads the results as
cleaned-keywords.txt
. Useful if you want a file backup or plan to import later.
Tips
- Quick preset is best for everyday use. It fixes most common problems in one go.
- Use SEO preset if you need to keep numbers in keywords, like product models.
- Deep preset is the nuclear option — it runs every rule and gives you the cleanest possible list.
- If you need precision, Custom lets you pick exactly what happens.
